Niedersachsen’s especially strong position in the field of wind power generation and our dedicated development of hydrogen technology offers investors in energy-intensive parts of the PV value chain in particular (metallurgical silicon, poly-Si, Si-Wafer, glass) the perfect coastal manufacturing sites. Renewable industrial electricity produced cost-effectively at the production site supplies these parts of the value chain and makes the products green, which in turn offers a competitive edge.

Production requires locations that make logistical sense. Niedersachsen is in the centre of Europe and, with Germany’s only deepwater port in Wilhelmshaven as well as nine other seaports, offers the ideal transport connections.

Another major factor in Niedersachsen’s favour is a scientific environment that can support production and advance its development. The state-owned Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hameln/Emmerthal (ISFH) develops next generation PV cell and module technology.
